Employment History to date
2011 – Present Self-Employed Work |
Working under the name Clockwork Village, I have produced and recorded work for bands, designed and built websites for an art publishing firm, and organised and hosted a regular live music event at a local venue. My main focus during this time has been to continue work on a trilogy of novels, all linked thematically but each focusing on a different set of characters. |
2011 – Present Lloyds TSB Bank |
I currently work part time to enable me to work on various creative projects in my own time [see above]. I am one of the few members of staff not to have had time off with illness and am regularly elevated to the position of team leader when my immediate superior is absent. |
2010 Self-Employed Work |
I was approached to design and construct a virtual museum tour using a game engine for use as promotional material to pitch a 'sound museum' and its interactive exhibits to potential investors. Given only a rough brief, I was given creative freedom to design the look of the museum and program the working exhibits within. |
Jan – Sep 2007 Lloyds TSB Bank |
Customer Service Advisor in the Lost and Stolen/Authorisations department. During my time here I was regularly called on to assist with staff computer problems. |
Jan – Dec 2006 Thru-Tone-Media |
I filled many roles in this fledgling business, was involved in the construction of the company website, and designed its logo and various promotional materials. I was also responsible for the writing, production and editing of multiple short films, including the composition of their soundtracks and the recording of any dialogue. These films were shown on the internet television stations hosted by the company.
|
2005 HSBC |
Data entry. Designed a series of 'hot key' systems which were instrumental in clearing a three month backlog of work that had existed prior to my arrival. |
2003 - 2006 Chapman Roofing |
Basic labouring, advanced tiling and flat-roofing. Later involved in a new loft conversion wing of the company. |
2001 - 2004 J. Sainsburys |
Replenishment Assistant. I fulfilled many tasks here from the rotation of stock to being solely responsible for the unloading of delivery vehicles. |
Interests and Achievements
|
I have always enjoyed using my imagination more than anything else. This has manifested itself in multiple ways from making my own graphic novels and animations to writing the alternative rock songs of my post-teenage rebellion. I once enjoyed critical success with my band, Gozer, and although we are now disbanded, I still play from time to time, leaning now towards an acoustic blues sound much more in keeping with my age. I love a good story, and so it figures that I spend a lot of time reading, watching films and playing video games. Each experience gets me thinking and inspires me to work on something of my own, I have written screenplays and short stories and envisaged story arcs and mechanics for games. I relish the challenge of creating interesting worlds, characters, and of making their stories work logically, without plot holes, and it's something I think I'm good at. At university, one of my favourite projects involved me successfully adapting The Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll for radio, where I turned it into a retrospective drama about a serial killer, a task I got excellent marks for. Most recently I finished a novel which I am redrafting for publication, but have also been working on another two which will form component parts of a trilogy.
